Rich culture and beauty in Bali

Posted on September 22, 2008 by

My second encounter with this mystical island has turned into a love affair, yet again. I’m in love with this little island, one that’s small yet packed with plenty of things to see and do. I’ll let my pictures do the talking and bring you through the emerald rice fields, sun-kissed beaches and holy temples with me.

A view of the volcanic lake from the air..
Temple in the heart of Denpasar
Temple rules had us dorning sarongs around our waist
as a form of respect for the gods.

Driving thru downtown Denpasar,
we found this colourful night market
that was full of vibrant energy and bright fruits…

Tropical Jackfruit
Dinner time at my fav restaurant..
this Nasi Campur was excellent,
dotted with a variety of veges, beef, and satay (meat stick).

Nightview of a Balinese resort
En route to Ubud,
we stopped by to admire these stunning architecture..
statues of Buddha and Hindu gods
Amidst the Monkey Jungle in Ubud,
we found this ancient temple..
Mystical Monkey Forest

A restaurant perched rite nxt to fields n fields of rice paddy
A peaceful and tranquil sight,
made for a rewarding and relaxing meal..

Indonesian food´s one of my favourite in the world.
Spicy, sweet and a rainbow of sensations to your tastebud.
I loved the rural countryside feel..

it took us hours to get there
bt was disappointly a tourist joint

Bali is dotted with vast volcanic beaches
huge waves and wide stretch of sand..

the best picture of the beautiful rice terraces
that line the roads all over Bali
Temple Tanah Lot
the famous temple in the sea…
Alberto getting blessed by the temple officials..
a splatter of rice on the forehead and a frangipani flower tucked at the ear.
Alluring Balinese art gallery
Chancing upon a cultural center,
we were in for a treat!
Bali has got all types of traditional dances..
these dancers perform the famous Legong Dance,
in their amazing costumes, and enchanting movements.
Huge bronze statue of the Hindu god Lord Wisnu.
It actually composed of him riding on his Garuda bird,
with flames of holy wisdowm surrounding him.

Night perform – the Kecak dance
An insightful peek into their culture!
the Princess in the drama..

Good vs Bad..
their colorful and dramatic masks.
