How can I do this?
Once you're in Egypt, get to Bahariya Oasis, just 2 hrs by bus from Cairo. There, you can organize a jeep safari. You can even book it in advance in Cairo. For Wadi Rum, it's also abt 2 hrs from Petra, we booked our tour in the town of Petra.
The mushroom rocks and the rock bridge are really awesome looking. The Bedouin food and shisha sounds lovely too. I definitely hope to check this area out sometime.
Mark, yeh I wish I could go back right now. Our Bedouin guides were so funny, they were making jokes all night while we sipped Arabic tea. It was an amazing experience. Thinking of it now reminds me of the starry skies that night…
