Singapore’s beautiful flowers and greenery

Each time a friend visits from abroad, we make it a point to bring him to the Botanic Gardens of Singapore. It’s one of my favourite spots in Singapore to get away from the crowd, and immerse in nature. Despite being known for its chewing-gum ban and tall skyscrapers, Singapore has a huge display of flowers and greenery she can take pride in.

Phalaenopsis

With our tropical climate, luscious rainforests and rare hybrids of flowers grow proliferantly in this part of Asia.

I personally love the  Orchid Garden in the Botanic Garden with its impressive display of orchids. It might just be one of the best- kept secrets of this commercial city, as few rarely stop to soak in the nature.

The Vanda Miss Joaquim is the national flower of Singapore, and can be found anywhere around the Garden city.

The Botanic Gardens also boasts of a man-made waterfall, ginger garden and a tropical rainforest enclosure. It’s a great place to hang out with the whole family, do a picnic by the swan lake and just spend some time with nature.

White Pavilion

This white pavilion sits beautifully in the middle of the Park, I could just imagine a lovely outdoor wedding right here. A small, lovely affair.

Halia cafe/restaurant

Nestled amidst the lushness of the tropical plants, there is a beautiful cafe/restaurant all laid out in wood, and white linen. Sitting amidst the greenery, with the sound of the insects buzzing by, it is a perfect spot to chill out and enjoy nature.

Sunday brunch is the best time to visit the restaurant, when a high tea buffet is available.
