Snowy Norway – Memoirs of a drunkard

Thanks to Ryanair,
we set off for Norway for a short weekend
for just 26 euros!!!

So right after we touched down,
our Couchsurfing host Terje picked us up
and off we went to his house to party!
Couchsurfing is a great idea,
you meet locals, get to stay at their place,
try Norwegian food n have the greatest time ever! :)

Terje was such a superb host,
his apartment looked right outta an IKEA catalogue!
Aft some drinks, we were lk long-lost pals.
Needless to say, I got pretty wasted
from the lethal Absinte n spanish brandy.

Terje n his huge collection of alcohol!

them in his deck!
freakin cool balcony, all filled with pure snow..

Next day, all hungover,
we wondered the streets of Oslo.
It was all snowy, white n tranquil
Scandinavian beauty.
we explored the Viking Ship Museum
and chilled out on the tram.

The Vigeland Park.
Sprawling park filled with bronze statues
from a famous artist.

Harbour of Oslo.
Terje’s neighbourhood.

Terje’s apartment.
Typical Norwegian breakfast – sourcream porridge.
View from his deck.

I loved how u just step into the white snow right outta the front door.

A superb view of the Oslo Fjord.
A fjord is basically a bay surrounded by small steep-sloped islands
it was such a pity we cldn’t go on a boat ride
along the world-famous Norwegian fjords…
they only operate in summer..
the clear blue sky, reflected on the calm n peaceful lake.

We took the metro all the way up to the mountain..
(only 30mins from the centre – state of the art technology)

Terje brought his sledges for us to play!

An entire route consisting of hairpin bends and undulating slopes
to make the whole sledding experience fast n exciting!

my first real sledding experience! :)
the one in Granada didnt count :P

Holmenkollen Ski Jump.
the Winter Olympics took place here.
the slope was almost vertical!

another view of the entire Oslo fjord n surroundings

Soaking up the sun amidst the snow..
ahhh saying gdbye to Winter Wonderland..
it was a fantastic trip,
we made a new friend, who made our trip sooo authentic
n a true travelling experience.
