Miami Beach From Above

Posted on October 30, 2012 by

“Welcome to Miami! Buckle up and prepare for the ride!”

Our pilot for the day shouts through the speaker on his headphones as we prepare to take off. We are at North Perry Airport, located 20 miles north of downtown Miami and we about to start our scenic flight around Miami.

It doesn’t take long for us to get to the coastline. As we glide above South Beach and the sparkling shoreline, our pilot points and give us some facts about landmarks ranging from the Miami Beach Marina to the Art Deco District. High rising resorts cast their shadow over the clear blue waters below as sunbathers enjoy a fantastic day at the beach.

We continue the flight over Key Biscayne, the off-shore stilt houses, the Venetian islands and downtown Miami. Below our feet, an interesting combination of natural landscapes, opulence display and impressive man-made skyline passes by as we observe in awe.

Join us on our sky-ride with some of the pictures we captured from the air:

Miami’s skyline from the ground

Spectacular front view of Miami Beach

Solitary speedboat cruising Miami’s waters

Bird’s-eye view of Miami Beach

Crandon Park tennis center in Key Biscayne, home to Miami Masters tournament

Aventura and the plush neighborhood surrounding it

Bayside and the American Airlines arena

Our flight was arranged by GetYourGuide. The one-hour flight costs US$165, with a minimum of two persons per flight. The price does not include hotel transfers. Note that the air base is located in Pembroke Pines, 40 minutes away from South Beach by car (taxi fare is approximately US$40 each way).
