From the magnificent Andes and Iguassu Falls to the lakes and glaciers of Patagonia in the far South, Argentina really does have it all. But recently it’s the less-visited North Western region that’s got us excited, inspired and dying to share the incredible experiences it holds for luxury holiday enthusiasts.
Here’s our perfect way to the explore mountains, canyons, salt flats and vineyards of Argentina’s North West region.
Buzzing Buenos Aires
No trip to South America can start without a few days soaking up the vibrant culture of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Full of boutique hotels, frenetic markets and fantastic food, Buenos Aires is the perfect introduction to Argentina and its colourful culture. Where to stay? You can’t go wrong at our favourite hideaway in the cities hip district Palermo Viejo, Legado Mitico.
Canyons and Salt Flats
For the ultimate South American Luxury Holiday, the dramatic Andean landscape awaits. From Salta take the stunning journey through the village of Pumamarca, famously overlooked by the remarkable mountain of seven colours before spending a couple of nights in Las Marias, Tilcara. Here you’ll also be able to explore the impressive Humahuaca Canyon, a valley 155 miles long inhabited by ancient cultures and the Salinas Grandes, surreal salt flats approached over the infamous Lipan Slope!
Wilderness and Wine
For those of you who like sampling the grape goodness on your travels, Argentina is undoubtedly one of the best. Home to the charming Vinas de Cafayate Hotel in the up and coming Cafayate region, you’ll find yourself in wine tasting heaven sipping a chilled glass of Torrontes surrounded by the beautiful mountains. Vinas de Cafayate sits idyllically in the vineyards and pretty gardens at the foot of the majestic San Isidro Hill and has panoramic views of the vineyards and a fully furnished wine cellar open for tastings. Throw in some horse riding (not after too many glasses of wine), mountain biking, canyon hiking or cheese tasting to really make the most of this spectacular region.
Luxury and Pampering
After cities, salt flats and sipping on wine it’s time for some serious relaxation and pampering. Our top pick for this region? House of Jasmines; With the stunning city of Salta on its door step, House of Jasmines is a 100-year-old house , perfect for a luxurious, back to nature escape. Oozing with Argentine charm you can end days of walking in the Andes with indulgent massages in the seductive spa and spend evenings tucking into the scrumptious regional dishes all prepared from home-grown produce. Perfect.

Argentina sounds lovely.
Great pics!
Is it pricey there?
Nancy & Shawn
Argentina’s not too expensive to travel as compared to North America. Buenos Aires is a bit more expensive than other parts of Argentina but in general, it’s great for the budget traveler! I especially loved the Northern part where Humahuaca and the salt flats are.
