I’m still in bliss, heavenly bliss. It’s like waking up to the sun pouring through the windows, a beautiful day that you never want to end.

It had come as a huge surprise, I had never expected Alberto to propose now. We had talked about our future, building a home together and moving to Spain end of 2009 but never had I known he had been planning this for awhile.

I remember the day we met. I went into my friend’s room while she was in the shower, and there he was, sitting quietly in a corner, watching the sitcom ‘Friends’ (Till this day, it’s still our favorite TV show.) I said an awkward hi and sat down to watch the show, while we waited for our friend to come out of the shower. There he was, so shy and cute. He stared at me for awhile, but we never said anything. I remembered him from then on. The next time we met in a party, we talked, a lot more. So did the next time, and the next…

It’s been 6 years, and we’ve gone through lots of ups and downs together, and have come a long way. An extremely long way. From the trial and tribulations of being apart for 1 year, homesickness in depressingly cold England, to losing my job in Spain, we have conquered more obstacles together than I could have imagined. Moving from 1 country to the next was always exciting and refreshing, but it also meant that we had to adapt, make new friends and resettle all over again. Alberto, being a homely person who did not like being away from home, went through all that, for me. Together, we fought through so much difficulties, but also gained so much laughter and happiness. Without him, my life would never be this colorful and magical.

His proposal on my blog was an amazing feat, and the best gift ever. Alberto’s never been a vocal person, although affectionate and always loving. He makes me feel loved through his actions instead of words. Now, he’s written such beautiful words to me, in front of a huge audience (that’s you) and those words mean more to me than anything else in the world.

I don’t need a ring, or anything for that matter, to commit to our relationship. Having gone through thick and thin, and still loving each other everyday, was enough to complete my life, with or without marriage. But as I wear our engagement ring now, every single time I look at it, I see his smile and our beautiful times we’ve had together. I thank God for giving me love, and I thank Alberto for every single day of the life we have together.

Alberto, te quiero tanto, no puedo imaginar un día sin ti. Contigo, mi vida es realmente completa. Tengo tantas ganas de empezar una vida nueva contigo. Una vida con risas, lágrimas o culaquier cosa – yo quiero pasarlo contigo. Gracias por todos los momentos que teníamos.
